Man Killed By Helicopter Tail Rotors
GLACIER - An unidentified man was killed yesterday when he got out of a helicopter and walked into its tail rotor at Glacier, Whatcom County. He was believed to have been from Los Angeles.
The A-Star helicopter, owned by Fly Wright Corp. of Federal Way, had left there yesterday morning on a flight to check mountain locations for a TV commercial, said Robert Wright, company owner.
The accident happened in mid-afternoon, shortly after the chopper landed at Glacier, about 30 miles east of Bellingham on the Mount Baker Highway. Wright was told that the victim walked under the craft's tail boom, then turned into the whirling rotor.
Whatcom County sheriff's officers were investigating.
