ALPINE
-- A survey of alpine ski areas in the region for the 1990-91 season.
ALPENTAL, SKI ACRES,
SNOQUALMIE SUMMIT
-- 47 miles east of Seattle on I-90. Runs range from easy to expert. One lift ticket valid on all chairlifts. Free shuttle-bus service among the three areas on weekends.
Alpental features steep advanced-expert terrain but also has beginner and some intermediate skiing. Ski Acres offers wide beginner-intermediate slopes plus steeper faces, bowls and trails. Snoqualmie Summit has wide, open beginner-intermediate slopes and some steeper runs.
ELEVATION - Alpental 3,200-5,400 feet, Ski Acres 2,860-3,900, Snoqualmie 3,000-3,900.
OPERATING HOURS - Daily, 9:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Alpental and Snoqualmie closed nonholiday Mondays, Ski Acres closed nonholiday Tuesdays. All three areas open until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday Dec. 28-March 16. Sundays, Alpental closes 6 p.m., Ski Acres and Snoqualmie close at 9 p.m. All areas close 5 p.m. Dec. 24, will be open until 11:30 Dec. 31. Ski Acres cross-country center open weekdays 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday nights, 5 p.m.-10 p.m.
FACILITIES, SERVICES - 21 chairlifts, platterpull, 11 rope tows. Snowboarders welcome at Ski Acres and Snoqualmie. Snowboarding at Alpental Monday-Friday only. Alpental reserves the right to prohibit snowboarding when number of skiers dictates.

CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN
-- 39 miles east of Enumclaw off Highway 410. Lifts serve 1,300 acres of downhill terrain for skiers of every caliber, plus 1,000 acres of backcountry skiing for experts; 32 major runs.
ELEVATION - 4,400-7,000 feet.
OPERATING HOURS - Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday 8:30 a.m.-10 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday, 8:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Night skiing, Friday-Sunday and holiday periods, mid-December to early April, 4:30 p.m.-10 p.m.

49 DEGREES NORTH
-- 10 miles east of Chewelah, Stevens County. 16 groomed runs for all ski levels. East Basin for powder skiing.
