Work On Centennial Trail Scheduled To Begin July 1
Construction of the first seven miles of the 17-mile Centennial Trail system is to start about July 1 and be completed by the end of the year.
The trail will follow the abandoned Burlington Northern right of way between Snohomish and Arlington, and eventually be linked to other trails to span the entire length of the county, from the King County to Skagit County lines.
A $1.4 million contract with Dennis R. Craig Construction of Redmond has been approved by the county to build a 12-foot-wide paved pedestrian and bicycle lane and an adjacent 8-foot horse corridor from Snohomish to Lake Stevens, according to County Councilman Peter Hurley.
Next year, the county plans to build the remaining 10 miles of the trail - from Lake Stevens north to just south of Arlington.
