Power Outage Hits Bellevue, Kirkland

BELLEVUE

Electricity to almost 8,000 Eastside homes and businesses was cut off this morning when a switch in a major substation burned out.

A Puget Power spokeswoman said the outage occurred at 4:35 a.m. and affected about 3,500 customers in west Bellevue, Medina, Clyde Hill and other areas along the Lake Washington shoreline. Service was restored at 5:15 a.m.

Another 4,100 customers in south Kirkland were affected by the problem, she said. Those customers were brought back on line by 5:30

a.m.
