Man Dies From Injuries Suffered In Edmonds Dive
Times Staff: Times News Services
The Snohomish County medical examiner today planned to perform an autopsy on an Illinois man who died yesterday afternoon from injuries suffered in a scuba-diving accident.
Bruce Marshall, 52, was diving Saturday with his son, Ryan S. Marshall, 24, in the Edmonds Underwater Park about 250 feet from shore when the elder Marshall got into trouble while in 30 feet of water. By the time the two made it to the surface, Bruce Marshall was unconscious, police said.
The father and son were brought to Stevens Memorial Hospital in Edmonds, where the elder Marshall had been in a coma until 3:15 p.m. yesterday when he died. Ryan Marshall, of Federal Way, was unhurt.
It's not certain whether the accident was a result of equipment failure, said Wally Tribuzio, Edmonds Asst. Police Chief. Marshall's equipment will be brought to a specialist at the University of Washington to be evaluated.
