3 Cornhuskers On Academic All-America

STAMFORD, Conn. - Trev Alberts, the Butkus Award winner, and two of his Nebraska teammates are among the 24 student-athletes selected to the 1993 GTE Academic All-America football team.
Alberts, a linebacker, has a 3.31 grade-point average as a communications major.
Joining him on the team are Nebraska offensive lineman Rob Zatechka, a biological-sciences major who has a perfect 4.00 GPA , and defensive lineman Terry Connealy.
Tim Ruddy, Notre Dame offensive lineman and mechanical-engineering major with a 3.86 GPA, was chosen the GTE Academic All-America Team Member of the Year.
Offensive team
Others on the offensive team are Montana quarterback David Dickenson, receivers Eric Drage of Brigham Young and Todd Eckenroad of St. Francis (Pa)., tight end John Quintana of Youngstown State, running backs Chad Poulson of Oregon State and Anthony Russo of St. John's (N.Y.), linemen Matt Burgess of Missouri, Justin Hall of New Mexico and Andre Maksimow of Boston University, and place-kicker Gilad Landau of Grambling.
Defensive team
Others on the defensive team are backs Michael Gilmore, Florida; Brad Mager, Dayton; Kevin Riley, Sam Houston State, and Steve Wasylk, Michigan State; linebackers Tom Burns, Virginia, and Timothy Mauck, New Mexico State; linemen Steve Lochow, Dayton; Travis Pearson, Duke, and Craig Staub, William & Mary, and punter Robert King, Texas Tech.
