Seen, Heard, Said
Couplings and uncouplings:
-- "You buy a car, it breaks down, what are you gonna do." That was famed romantic Charlie Sheen explaining why he's ditched bride-of-five-months Donna Peele, whom he wed after a six-week courtship. Next stop, divorce. -- On the other side of the coin and halfway across the Pacific, the husband formerly known as Prince and his bride Mayte performed for three nights on their honeymoon in Honolulu. No, not that kind of performing. Shame on you. We're talking about concerts. -- We told you that new parents Jean Claude Van Damme and Darcy LaPier had reconciled. But that hasn't stopped model Isabelle Torrella from going on "Inside Edition" and claiming a long-term relationship of the intimate variety. Not so, say Jean Claude's people. -- Also a denial form Tori Spelling re a relationship with Patrick Muldoon of "Melrose Place." She tells TV Guide, "He's like my brother." -- No denial from Liv Tyler, daughter of Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, who has parlayed her modeling career into acting. She is dating Roy Cochrane of "Dazed and Confused." -- And Julia Roberts wants to clarify her relationship with Matthew Perry, reported to be more than "Friends." She tells Entertainment Weekly: "He's a smart, very funny, talented, handsome man and he's on my favorite show. He asked me on a date. Why would I say no? Nobody ever asks me on dates. Ever. Almost never. Almost absolutely never." So how's it going? "He hasn't given me his letterman's jacket or anything, if that's what you're driving at. We're not pinned."
From dating to parenting:
-- Melissa Gilbert tells People mag the premature birth of her son in November was "the most frightening adventure I have ever been on. Birth was supposed to be kisses and hugs. Instead, it was tubes and wires . . . " Melissa and actor/hubby Bruce Boxleitner weren't allowed to hold baby Michael, who came three months early, for the first two days and he didn't go home for seven weeks. Between them, Melissa and Bruce have three children from previous marriages. Says Mom: "We think this is our last baby. His birth took a lot out of us, physically and emotionally." -- Meanwhile, Melanie Griffith - pregnant with Anthony Banderas' baby - caused a fuss recently when photographed smoking. So you'll be relieved to know that she tells InStyle mag that she doesn't "feel any desire to drink or do coke." No, we're not talking cola.
