Services Set For Coast Guard Crew

SEATTLE - Memorial services are scheduled tomorrow for the three Coast Guard crewmen who died last week attempting to rescue a man and woman from a disabled sailboat in the ocean off La Push.

Services will be at 11:45 a.m. in Seattle at the Coast Guard's Support Center at Pier 36, and at noon at the Quillayute River Coast Guard Station in La Push, according to the Coast Guard.

David Bosley, Matthew Schlimme and Clinton Miniken were killed early Wednesday morning when their 44-foot boat capsized and rolled in rough seas while attempting to rescue Navy Lt. Kenneth Schlag and a woman companion after their 31-foot boat capsized. The couple were rescued by a Coast Guard helicopter crew in the meantime.

A memorial fund is being established for a monument at the Quillayute River Coast Guard Station. Anyone wishing to contribute can send donations to Port Angeles Chief Petty Officers Association, MLB 44363 Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 632, Port Angeles, WA 98362.
