Rising Star: Anastasia Solomatina
The Russian-born teenager will be only 14 when she performs Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Northwest Chamber Orchestra in its "Russian Masterworks" concerts Nov. 14 and 16, in Kane Hall on the University of Washington. Solomatina has already appeared with the Seattle Symphony and performed several other concerts and recitals, with a big technique and an artistic maturity that suggests a promising career ahead.
