Two Die In Pierce County Accidents
PIERCE COUNTY - Two separate traffic accidents claimed the lives of two people in Pierce County yesterday, according to the State Patrol.
Christine M. Silvernail, 25, of Tacoma, was traveling west on East Ninth Street at 190th Avenue East, south of Auburn near Lake Tapps, just after midnight when the car she was driving left the roadway, striking several tree stumps. Silvernail was pronounced dead at the scene.
About 12 hours later, James M. Stefnik, 18, of Sumner, was killed when the truck he was driving struck another vehicle in the northbound lane of A.P. Tubbs Road at Larson Loss Road, just south of South Prairie.
The passenger with Stefnik, Thomas P. Green, 20, of Buckley, suffered massive head and pelvic injuries and was listed in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The driver of the other vehicle, Kevin S. Dyvig, 40, of Buckley, suffered leg injuries and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup where he was listed in stable condition.
