Medtronic Completes Deal To Buy Physio-Control

Seattle Times Staff: Seattle Times News Services

WASHINGTON - Medtronic said it completed its $538 million acquisition of Redmond-based Physio-Control International yesterday after agreeing to alter an investment in the company's direct competitor.

To resolve federal antitrust concerns, Medtronic agreed to become a passive investor in SurVivaLink, which, like Physio-Control, makes automated external defibrillators. Previously, Medtronic had an ownership interest in SurVivaLink.
