Boys Basketball -- Highline Rebounds For Victory In Ot

BURIEN - Collin Waterton put back a rebound off a missed free throw with 11 seconds left in overtime to give Highline a 58-56 victory over Mount Si last night in a nonleague boys basketball game.
Mount Si led by three points with 20 seconds left in regulation, but Waterton nailed a three-pointer to tie the score. Mount Si responded with a basket, but Highline's Jeff Briggs was fouled on an inbound pass and he hit both fre throws with no time left to force overtime.
Briggs finished with 24 points and Waterton had 15 for Highline. Isaiah Cormier topped Mount Si with 27 points and Jason Arriaga had 11.
At Franklin 76, Franklin Pierce 49 - Alvin Snow, a 6-foot-4 junior wing, scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for third-ranked Franklin (7-1) in the nonleague victory. Jimmie Hayward contributed 16 points for the Earthquake, who led by two points after three quarters and then outscored the visiting Cardinals 29-4 in the final period.
At King's 50, Coupeville 41 - David Ayers claimed 15 points and seven rebounds while Chris Morrow had 13 points and six rebounds for King's (6-2) in the nonleague victory. The Knights led 26-19 at halftime, capitalizing on Coupeville turnovers.
At Monroe 66, Meadowdale 56 - Down by six at halftime and by two after three quarters, the Bearcats rallied in the final period with a 22-10 run. Anthony Curcio scored 20 points, Dave Klinzing had 19 points and eight rebounds and Dan Hoffman added 12 points for Monroe
(5-4). Jordan Church scored 23 points, including seven three-pointers, for Meadowdale (5-4).
At Bellevue Christian 55, Tacoma Baptist 32 - Brent Dauma pumped in 25 points, including three three-poitners, and grabbed four rebounds for Bellevue Christian (8-1) in the nonleague victory. Pete Aeschliman had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Vikings, who blew it open with a 19-4 fourth quarter.
Shorecrest 61, at Stanwood 60 - Shorecrest held on for the nonleague victory despite missing two one-and-one chances at the foul lin in the final seconds. Stanwood cut the difference to one point on Brian Hart's layin with 14 seconds to go, the Scots missed twice at the free-throw line and then Stanwood missed a 35-footer at the buzzer. Mark Haner scored 12 points for Shorecrest. Brandon Rude had 16 points and six assists for the Spartans (3-4).
Jackson 63, at Snohomish 36 - Nate Collord scored 19 points, including four three-pointers as Jackson (7-1) bounced back from its first loss, to Stanwood, by winning this nonelague game. The Timberwolves' pressure defense helped create 16 turnovers. Will Van Duine scored 16 points for Snohomish (2-5).
Overlake 63, at King's West 52 - Matt Fisk pumped in 30 points, including three three-pointers in the third period, for Overlake (4-5) in the nonleague victory. Luke Walker scored 25 points for King's West (4-4).
