Suspect's Ex-Girlfriend Changes Tale
SEATTLE - The former girlfriend of a man accused of killing two Shoreline-area women testified yesterday she lied to police when she connected him to the slayings.
Princess Gray initially told police that Robert Parker bragged about killing and robbing two Shoreline-area women in 1995 and that he brought several items from their apartments and stored them in her duplex.
But when asked yesterday, Gray said she lied to get back at him. Gray was arrested in 1996 for assaulting Parker.
"I wanted him to go to to jail like I did," Gray testified, bursting out in tears. "I was angry at him." She said she found the victims' items near a trash can not far from her apartment.
Parker, 27, is charged with two counts of aggravated murder in the slayings of Renee Powell and Barbara Walsh. Both women had been bound, gagged and stabbed. Both had items stolen from their apartments, and the killer set several fires at both apartments.
Parker could be sentenced to death if convicted.
