Getty Images Plans To Move To New Building
More than 300 employees of Getty Images will be moving to a new headquarters in Fremont in the summer of 2001.
Quadrant, developer of the Lake Union Center there, said the e-commerce provider of imagery and related products has signed a 12-year lease. It will move its headquarters into the entire office portion of the Park View Building that will be part of a two-building development directly west of the Fremont Bridge.
Getty Images also has a lease option to occupy the nearby three-story Waterside Building. Construction is to begin in the spring.
The four-story Park View Building will have 125,000 square feet of office and retail space at the southwest corner of North 34th Street and Fremont Avenue North. It also will have underground parking that will be shared with the Waterside Building. It will overlook the Ship Canal and have 62,000 square feet of office space on three floors.
The Waterside Building will front on the soon-to-be-built extension of the Burke-Gilman Trail that will run adjacent to the Ship Canal. Quadrant has been redeveloping the trail in connection with its development on both sides of the Fremont Bridge.
The addition of the two buildings to be occupied by Getty Images will bring Quadrant's Lake Union Center to half a million square feet of committed space in five buildings. Others include the Adobe Waterfront Building; the Plaza Building, in which Getty Images subleases 72,000 square feet on the east end of the campus; and a
smaller building for Sound Mind & Body Gym on the west end of the site.
Three more buildings are planned there by Quadrant, a Weyerhaeuser company: the 105,000-square-foot Lake View Building east of the bridge, for which a building permit is pending, and the Evanston and Canal View buildings totaling 100,000 square feet of space, also on the east end of the campus.
