FBI agents and Seattle police officers have arrested a Seattle man in connection with an August bank robbery and carjacking in West Seattle.
James Alan Fease, 31, is in custody on two federal charges - bank robbery and using a gun while committing a violent crime. He is scheduled to appear again tomorrow in U.S. District Court in Seattle.
Fease is accused of robbing the Wells Fargo Bank branch at 2358 California Ave. S.W. in West Seattle on Aug. 28 and carjacking a car with a woman and her two small children inside to get away, FBI officials said.
The woman and children were not hurt, and no one was hurt inside the bank.
The FBI said Fease's arrest ends an eight-month investigation by the Puget Sound Violent Crimes Task Force. After the robbery, FBI spokeswoman Robbie Burroughs said agents believed the suspect had robbed six other banks since early May. Spokesman Greg Jennings said Fease has not been charged with any robberies other than the one Aug. 28.
Fease was arrested Friday after the Seattle police SWAT team searched his West Seattle home, Jennings said, but he did not know what the team found.
Fease is in custody, Jennings said, but he could not say where he was being held or at what bail might have been set.
