Course of the week: Trophy Lake Golf and Casting Club
Telephone: 360-874-8337. Par, yardage: Par 72, championship, 7,206 yards; blue, 6,756; white, 6,162; gold, 5,654; red, 5,342.
Rating, slope: Championship, 74.3 (what an expert would shoot), 137 (113 is difficulty of an average course); blue, 72.0, 133; white, 69.5, 129; gold, 71.0, 126; red, 70.3, 125.
Greens fees: Mon-Thurs, $59; before 7:30 a.m. and after 1 p.m., $49; after 3 p.m., $39; Fri-Sun, $84; after 1 p.m., $64; after 3 p.m., $49. Price includes cart and range balls.
Comments: Expensive but wonderful getaway course, lots of trees, views and no homes. Trees don't come into play, but huge, deep bunkers do. Requires good shot-making, but five sets of tees make it playable for most. Beautifully maintained. Can walk, but you pay for cart even if you walk. Fly-fishing for trout and steelhead available. Equipment included at $12.50 an hour, or $40 for half a day.
Times rating: 4-1/2 balls (5 balls is best, 2 is average)
