Makes about 3 quarts

2-½ quarts plain popped corn
1 cup chow mein noodles
½ cup coarsely chopped peanuts
¼ cup unsalted butter
½ teaspoon sugar
½ teaspoon five-spice powder
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon hot chili oil
About ¼ teaspoon salt

1. In a large roasting pan, combine the popped corn, chow-mein noodles and peanuts.

2. Melt the butter in a small saucepan. Remove from the heat and whisk in the sugar, five-spice powder, garlic powder, chili oil and salt. Pour over the popcorn mixture and stir well with a large spoon.
