Blue-chip history - the past six years
1997 (5 blue chips)
LB Ty Gregorak. HS: West Valley (Spokane). College: Colorado. Comment: Played under Rick Neuheisel for Buffaloes, had to quit because of injuries. Graduate assistant coach for two years at Washington and just accepted assistant job at Montana.
RB Ja'Warren Hooker. HS: Ellensburg. College: Washington. Comment: Played a couple of seasons as a receiver, then turned his focus to track, where he was a standout sprinter.
QB Drew Miller. HS: Lakes. College: Brigham Young. Comment: Left BYU after two years, but put up big numbers at Montana, where he was a Division I-AA All-American.
OL Victor Rogers. HS: Decatur. College: Colorado. Comment: Four-year letterman for Buffaloes, now with Detroit Lions in the NFL.
QB Marques Tuiasosopo. HS: Woodinville. College: Washington. Comment: Do-everything QB was a star for Huskies; now he's backing up Rich Gannon with Raiders in today's Super Bowl.
1998 (5 blue chips)
QB Luke Huard. HS: Puyallup. College: North Carolina. Comment: Coaching changes hurt his chances with Tar Heels. Tried to transfer to Sam Houston State, but that didn't work out. Assistant coach at Washington High School in suburban Tacoma.
TE Chris Jackson. HS: Kentridge. College: UCLA. Comment: Backup for Bruins, playing linebacker and fullback, but was gone after two seasons.
QB Jared Jones. HS: Walla Walla. College: Florida State. Comment:Jones didn't play much for Seminoles and was kicked off team as a junior, then went to Oregon State briefly, but never played. Drafted by Mariners in 2000, he's in their minor-league system.
LB Carlos Pierre-Antoine. HS: O'Dea. College: Notre Dame. Comment: Parade All-American was a backup inside linebacker at Notre Dame and played on special teams.
RB Matthias Wilson. HS: Ferndale. College: Washington. Comment: Ran for state-record 2,678 yards as a senior, but had just 14 carries in three seasons at UW. Tried to transfer to Western Washington, but lacked academic requirements.
1999 (6 blue chips)
RB Paul Arnold. HS: Kennedy. College: Washington.Comment: Big-time recruit didn't have career as running back some envisioned, but became a productive receiver for Huskies.
QB Matt Berry. HS: Eastlake. College: BYU. Comment: Went on a mission, was a part-time starter as a freshman last season for Cougars, throwing for more than 1,300 yards.
OL Dan Major. HS: Redmond. College: Colorado. Comment: Quit team twice, never played.
RB Robin Miller. HS: Kent-Meridian. College: Nebraska. Comment: Backup for Cornhuskers, didn't have a carry last season.
DE/TE Brett Pierce. HS: Columbia River. College: Stanford. Comment: Injury wiped out season, but he's Cardinal's top tight end if he recovers.
DL Jeremey Williams. HS: Ferris. College: Washington State. Comment: Defensive-tackle starter for Cougars, alongside Rien Long.
2000 (5 blue chips)
OL Dan Dicks. HS: Bellevue. College: Washington. Comment: Backup for Huskies.
WR-DB Skyler Fulton. HS: Capital. College: Arizona State. Comment: Left once, but returned to Sun Devils. Played a lot last season at receiver.
CB Jimmy Newell. HS: South Kitsap. College: Washington. Comment: Has been injury-prone with Huskies.
LB Larry Stevens. HS: Wilson. College: Michigan. Comment: Three-year letterman at Michigan as backup defensive end.
DL Zach Tuiasosopo. HS: Woodinville. College: Washington. Comment: Huskies' starting fullback.
