After 8 years, wrongly jailed man to be freed
VANCOUVER, Wash. — A man who has served eight years in prison after being wrongly convicted of raping a 5-year-old girl will soon be released.
Ross Sorrels could be freed as early as next week from Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, a minimum-security prison in Eastern Washington.
Last year, John T. Tyler was convicted of raping the girl and her two sisters. Tyler, who lived with the girls' mother, is serving a 73-year prison term.
Sorrels' 1995 trial made headlines because he was the former director of the America For Youth Foundation, which operated a downtown Vancouver gathering spot for troubled teenagers commonly known as The Club.
