Prep football: Two Bellevue stars on East-West team
Two all-state players from Bellevue's Class3A state-championship team and one all-stater from Kentwood's 4A champions are included on the roster for the 2003 East-West all-star high-school football game.
This year's game will return to Everett Memorial Stadium, but switches from a Friday night to a Saturday afternoon affair. The game is scheduled for June 28 at 1 p.m.
Bellevue's representatives on the West team are Matt Coombs, defensive back-running back, and lineman Jeff Dicks. Kentwood linebacker Tahj Bomar also will play on the West team.
Paul Lawrence, Everett High School coach and East-West coordinator, said the East-West game will be played in Everett two out of every three years, including this year and next. The game had been on a three-year rotation between Everett, the Tri-Cities and Spokane.
Absent from the West roster are Washington recruits Kyle Trew and Casey Tyler of Edmonds-Woodway and Craig Chambers of Jackson. Lawrence said all three were invited but did not respond.
