Mike Price, Bama officials meet over conduct
Seattle Times staff reporter
Coach Mike Price reportedly had two meetings with Alabama officials last weekend to discuss what The Tuscaloosa News said were "issues related to Price's public representation of the Alabama athletic department."
No explanation of what Price might have done was provided by university officials. Rumors are flying in Alabama that Price's behavior while in Pensacola, Fla., last week to play in a golf tournament embarrassed the school.
Price told the Mobile Press-Register on Saturday, "I'm not going to address Internet rumors. I'll make a statement at some time, but not now."
The Tuscaloosa News reported that Alabama athletic director Mal Moore attended both weekend meetings. Moore hired Price as football coach from Washington State in December to replace Dennis Franchione, who left for Texas A&M.
Price reportedly has not finalized his deal with the university, according to The Tuscaloosa News, but agreed in principle to a seven-year, $10 million contract.
