The Bon Marche changes name to The Bon-Macys

SEATTLE — The Bon Marche department store chain is getting a name change.

Starting Aug. 1, the stores will be known as The Bon-Macy’s. It’s a marketing move by The Bon’s parent company, Federated Department Stores Inc.

Federated officials said today that they will rename all their department stores nationwide to incorporate the Macy’s name.

The Seattle-based Bon has 48 stores in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.

As of Aug. 1, Federated’s 42 Lazarus stores in the Midwest will be Lazarus-Macy’s, and the five Goldsmith’s stores in Tennessee will be Goldsmith’s-Macy’s. On Feb. 1, 2004, Burdine’s will operate as Burdine’s-Macy’s at its 56 Florida stores.

Cincinnati-based Federated already has started the name change with its Rich’s-Macy’s stores in the South.
