Fake police officers burglarize woman's Lynnwood condo, steal car

Times Snohomish County bureau

LYNNWOOD — Three men claiming to be police officers entered a woman's Lynnwood condo this morning, stealing her car and other items, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.

At 1:51 a.m. the woman, who lives in the 3100 block of 164th Street Southwest, dialed 911 to report what had happened. Investigators are unsure how the men got into her house, said sheriff's spokesman Rich Niebusch.

The burglars wore badges around their necks and were armed with handguns and shotguns, said Niebusch. They took the woman's black Lexus sedan, which was found by King County Sheriff's deputies later this morning in Kenmore, apparently undamaged. Police are still looking for the suspects.
