Rant and Rave!
It's back to the streets this week with readers who are disgruntled with the lack of safety in their commutes. It seems the extra time in the car, at the bus stop and even on the sidewalk is starting to shrink the fuse of patience.
— Jessica Figueroa, news assistant
"My rant is at those drivers exiting a parking lot into traffic, cranking the wheel with one hand while the other is holding a cellphone. Why can't these people do their talking in the parking lot?" "This is a rant to all the drivers downtown who don't yield to pedestrians crossing in the crosswalk when the light turns green. The green light doesn't just apply to vehicles. I looked right at a driver last week who wasn't even fazed, yet I bet he would be mad if someone did that to his girlfriend seated next to him." "I have a rave that happened while I was driving south on I-5 in rush-hour traffic, when a truck was driving in the shoulder lane and passing all the vehicles that were at a standstill. A few minutes later, I saw a police officer had pulled him over. I was so happy to see that they actually caught someone that deserved to be ticketed. Good job." "It is nearly impossible for drivers to travel on the I-5 corridor between Tacoma and Seattle due to the excessive speeds from the enormous trucks and trailer rigs going up to 80 mph. During heavy rains, they throw so much water over passenger cars that vision is nearly obscured. Still, State Patrol vehicles ... look like they aren't doing anything to stop them. A few tickets to these trucks would do much to prevent these accidents waiting to happen." "I'm sick of being irritated by the rudeness of my fellow bus riders every morning! I'm talking about the unmitigated gall of some people who arrive just before the bus and strut right to the front of the line. They don't even bother to look embarrassed."What's got your wheels turning and burning? Contact Rant and Rave: rantandrave@seattletimes.com or 206-464-3279.
