NW Briefs: Ursino, Folsom advance in Sand Point tournament
Sue Ursino of Sahalee Country Club and Leslie Folsom of Rainier Golf and Country Club have advanced to today's 36-hole final of the Seattle Women's Golf Association Championship.
Ursino, a four-time winner of the event, defeated Regina Koh of Inglewood Golf Club, 5 and 3. Folsom beat Susan Oberlink of host Sand Point Country Club, 5 and 4.
Koh had defeated defending champion Ann Swanson of Sand Point on Tuesday. With the defeat, Swanson dropped from the championship flight to the first flight, but rebounded to make it to the flight finals. She beat Jenny Park of Inglewood, 4 and 3, Thursday and will face Claudia Robbs of Overlake today in an 18-hole match.

• Former Washington Husky Troy Kelly shot an 8-under 64, with nine birdies and one bogey, and leads the California Open on the Spanos mini-tour after three rounds. Kelly has a 54-hole total of 204 and leads by three strokes entering today's final round at The Reserve at Spanos Park Golf Club in Stockton. The Central Kitsap High School graduate tied for second at the 1999 NCAA Championship.
• Washington's Alex Prugh fell 1-up to Britain's Jamie Moul in the fourth round of match play at the British Amateur, held in Scotland at the Royal St. George's and Prince's Golf Club of St. Andrews.
Rowing
Lindsey Meyer, a junior at Holy Names Academy, swept the best of three women's single sculls finals at the U.S. Junior National Team Trials on Lake Mercer, outside Princeton, N.J., to earn a berth on the 2006 U.S. Junior National Rowing Team.
Meyer, 17, who trains at Seattle's Pocock Rowing Center, finished in 8 minutes, 5 seconds to meet the time standard necessary to qualify for the national team, which will compete in the 2006 World Junior Championships, Aug. 2-5 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Tennis
Top-seeded Jesse Walter defeated Kerry Bucklin 6-2, 6-0 to advance to the quarterfinals of the men's open singles section of the Seattle City Open.

• Linda Blake, Seattle Pacific track and field athlete, has been voted to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third team. She has a 3.94 grade-point average in chemistry.
• April Lott of Kennewick and Kelly Rosin have been named captains for the 2006 Washington State volleyball team.
• Seattle's Jill Kintner has been added to the 12-person roster for the 2006 Mountain Biking World Professional Championships.
• Everett Silvertips goaltender Leland Irving and forward Zach Hamill have been invited by Hockey Canada to attend its summer developmental camp, July 23-28 in Calgary, Alberta. The camp is the first step in a process that Hockey Canada follows to name Canada's National Junior Team roster in December.
• The Detlef Schrempf Foundation will hold its 13th annual Celebrity Golf Classic Monday at McCormick Woods Golf Course in Port Orchard. The foundation fund-raiser will benefit multiple children's charitable organizations. Among the celebrities scheduled to appear are Bryce Fisher, Robbie Tobeck, Bill Krueger, Brock Huard, Damon Huard, Kevin Calabro, Dave Henderson, Christopher McDonald, Jim Turner, Ryan Stiles and Don James.
