Lisa Hechtman, principal of Seattle's Nathan Hale High School, will become Skyline High School's new principal in July.
Hechtman was a former teacher and an assistant principal at Skyline. She left in 2004 to become principal at Nathan Hale.
While at Nathan Hale, Hechtman served on district committees and participated in national conferences that studied student achievement and educational accountability.
She began a program that encouraged families to become more involved in the school and organized a master class schedule to better meet students' needs.
Hechtman also is credited with creating professional development opportunities for staff.
She will leave Nathan Hale with some of the highest standardized-test scores in Seattle, said Janet Barry, Issaquah School District superintendent.
In January, Bob Zimmerman was named interim principal at Skyline, which is in Sammamish.
Zimmerman replaced Ed Young, who resigned in November following a Seattle Times report about allegations that Young had failed to respond appropriately to complaints that a Northshore School District teacher had touched students inappropriately. At the time of the complaints, Young was an elementary principal in the Northshore district.
