NW Briefs | Cougars row past Huskies
PULLMAN — For the second straight year, Washington State has won the Apple Cup of women's rowing.
The Cougars' varsity eight put together its best race of the season and beat Washington on the wind-swept Snake River. Washington State was clocked in 6 minutes, 47.47 seconds over the 2,000-meter course, and the Huskies crossed in 6:52.08.
"The varsity eight had been searching for a rhythm, and they finally found it," said Cougars coach Jane LaRiviere.
Last year marked the first time WSU had defeated the UW varsity in head-to-head competition.
Washington won all four men's events, but men's crew is only a club sport at WSU.
