Snohomish High boys tennis
Merkley, a senior, defeated Stanwood High's Kyle Koetje 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 in a battle in which both teams and No. 1 singles players were previously undefeated on Sept. 18 as the Panthers took sole possession of first place in WesCo North. He followed with wins against Lake Stevens High and Monroe High as he improved to 8-0, having dropped only one set all season.

Archbishop Murphy High volleyball
Reeves, a 5-foot-5 senior setter and co-captain, helped lead the Wildcats to a pair of Cascade Conference victories. She totaled 50 sets, 25 assists and 12 aces in a 3-1 win over Granite Falls High on Sept. 18, then followed with 25 sets, 13 assists and four aces in a 3-0 victory against Coupeville High on Thursday. Through the first four matches of the season, Reeves has 91 assists, 73 serves, 22 aces, 92 percent serving consistency, 65 percent serving accuracy and 86 percent setting quality.
Edmonds-Woodway High boys tennis team
The Warriors, coached by Dan Crist, beat Jackson High 5-2 on Friday in a duel between unbeaten teams to improve to 8-0 and take sole possession of first place in WesCo South. Edmonds-Woodway opened the week with a 7-0 win over Shorewood High on Sept. 18.
