Prep Roundup | Chief Sealth snaps long soccer losing streak
Molley Freed had a hat trick as Chief Sealth's girls soccer team got its first victory of the century, 5-0 over Franklin in a nonleague game Monday.
It's believed to be the school's first win in almost two decades.
Vanessa Hodge assisted on two goals and Julia Hodges and Alexandria Stariha also scored for the Seahawks (1-12) against the Quakers (1-14).
Russell, Perkins claim tennis berths
Juanita junior James Russell and Roosevelt junior Stephen Perkins captured state-tournament berths from KingCo 4A with victories in the conference boys singles tournament Monday night at Nordstrom Tennis Center.
Russell beat Garfield's Frankie Pavia 6-2, 6-4 for the championship. Perkins then beat Pavia 6-3, 6-1 for second place and the other automatic trip to state next spring.
