Issaquah is a growing district that has maintained its academic edge and its statewide reputation for high-achieving students and a supportive community.
Thanks to a voter-approved bond measure, the district has launched a major school renovation effort, which includes rebuilding Issaquah High School and expanding Skyline High.
The Issaquah Schools Foundation is dedicated to providing for unmet program needs.
Superintendent: Steve Rasmussen, formerly with the Franklin-Pierce School District, took over in June 2007.
Alternative program: Tiger Mountain Community High School.
The numbers: 2.1% African-American, 18.6% Asian-American, 4.4% Hispanic, .6% Native American, 73.9% White, 6.9% low-income, 10.4% special-education, 2.9% ESL.
Funding: In 2006 voters approved a four-year, $103.5 million operations levy; a four-year, $21.5 million capital projects levy; a 20-year, $241.9 million construction bond measure; and a one-year, $2.8 million school bus levy.
